STRENGTHENING FINANCIAL STABILITY AND MATERIAL BASICS FOR FAMILIES

Material Basics focuses on ensuring access to fundamental needs such as food, shelter, clothing, and economic security. In Tanzania, poverty remains a massive barrier to wellbeing, with approximately 60% of children living in multidimensional poverty, often lacking essential services or income.

Vijana Kesho works to connect parents and young people with traditional employment, entrepreneurship, and financial tools that support long-term stability and wellbeing.

Our Approach: Economic Security and Resilience

Our Material Basics initiative aligns with Pillar 3: FURSA ZA MSINGI: Makazi, Lishe, WASH, Ulinzi wa Jamii (Material Basics) of the SAFARI Wellbeing Framework. We focus on building financial assets and empowering families to manage their money responsibly. As families increase reliable income, they can better meet daily needs and invest in the overall wellbeing of their children and youth.

Key Focus Areas (SAFARI Framework):

This pillar addresses the foundational necessities for thriving:

(Makazi Salama, Maji Safi/Usafi wa Mazingira na Nishati Safi).
(Usalama wa Chakula na Lishe).
(Huduma Msingi na Kinga ya Gharama).
(Ustawi wa Kiuchumi wa Kaya, Ulinzi wa Jamii na Ustahimilivu).
